GEORGE TOWN, Jan 4 – Fire engulfed a gold shop with it warehouse, a car painting workshop, a furniture factory, a catering industry warehouse and few houses at Jalan Haji Hashim Imam here on Sunday afternoon. The incident was happen at about 2:45pm which the fire was broke up at one of the houses and spread quickly to the adjoining building.
A Fire and Rescue Department station spokesman said that we received a distress call at 2.49 pm. After received the call, we have sent our fire fighter to the scene between 10 minutes. He also said that the strong winds and hot weather was the main causes of fire spread quickly.
“The fire fighter and voluntary fire brigade were seen at the scene battling the fire, while thick black smoke continued to rise towards the sky. While, the fire was managed to extinguished successfully at 5 pm by the firemen. In the meantime, the causes of the fire and estimated for the losses were be still under investigation,” said the spokesman on the scene.
