KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 – The High Court here will decide on April 18 whether Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) could be an intervenor in a judicial review application filed by 39 owners of business premises at the Ampang Park shopping mall.

The owners of the business premises had filed the application to challenge the decision of the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Land Administrator and another party in approving land acquisition for the Klang Valley MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya project.

They had obtained leave from the court last Jan 20 to do so. Lawyer Jason Ng Kau, representing the 39 owners of the business premises at Ampang Park, told reporters that the date was set by High Court judge Datuk Hanipah Farikullah in chambers during case management Thursday. He said the court also set April 11 for all parties to submit their submission.

The 39 owners, who also hold the strata titles to the premises, had filed the application last Jan 8, naming the Ministry of Federal Territories, the Malaysian government, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Land and Mines Director and the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Land Administrator as respondents.

However, on Jan 20, the group dropped the Federal Territories Ministry and the Malaysian government as respondents in the judicial review application. They are seeking a declaration that the Form D, dated Aug 17, 2015, and Form E, dated Oct 22, 2015, under the Land Acquisition Act 1960 issued by the respondents were unconstitutional, illegal, null and void.
