KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that the RM2.6 billion received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was a personal contribution from the Saudi royal family, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
In a written reply distributed in the Dewan Rakyat today, she said the confirmation was based on investigations done by the MACC through the statements of witnesses, as well as supporting documents submitted to the commission. She was replying to Datuk Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena), who asked what were the findings and recommendations made by MACC to the Attorney-General in the cases of the RM2.6 billion donation, as well as RM42 million from SRC International.
Azalina said in the case of SRC International, the MACC had stated that their investigations did not show that the prime minister had committed any corrupt practice. She said based on the totality of facts and evidence, the Attorney-General is satisfied that there has been no criminal wrongdoing committed by the prime minister in relation to these cases.
