KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 – The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has launched a mobile a counter service to facilitate registration and renewal of business licences. Its chief executive officer, Datuk Zahrah Abd Wahab Fenner said a bus providing the service would ply throughout Peninsular Malaysia to help the people, especially those in rural areas, to register their business or renew their business licence.

“We are targeting to register 50,000 businesses this year through the bus counter service for the convenient of the people as well as help them save cost in dealing with SSM. For a start, the mobile counter service operates from the SSM headquarters (Kuala Lumpur) before moving to other states starting April,” she said at the launch of the bus service here yesterday.

The bus service costing RM400,000 was officiated by Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin. Hamzah also handed over RM1 million tithes for 2014 from SSM to SSM state directors for distribution to deserving recipients. Zahrah said if the counter service is encouraging, more buses would be provided.
