KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – A meeting is to be held tomorrow at the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry to discuss what measures to take in view of the current hot and dry weather caused by the El Nino phenomenon. Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said today the meeting, to be held at 2.30pm, would discuss the need to establish a ministry-level national committee on the matter.
Representatives of several other ministries and agencies would also attend the meeting, he told Bernama at the lobby of Parliament House. It is feared that the current hot and dry weather, which is expected to last up to June, may adversely affect the biodiversity in the country and give rise to haze. Daytime temperature has been hitting even 38 degrees Celsius in the federal capital.
