KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 – The famous composer Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan passed away at the Selayang Hospital on 2:17am this morning. Adnan admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital on midnight due to stroke, diabetes and kidney failure and only rely on a respirator. The funeral prayers for Adnan would be held at at Masjid Al-Falah and will buried in Sungai Ramal, Kajang.
Adnan has been instrumental in turning a nobody into a household name. His compositions like Jerat Percintaan and Bunga Bunga Cinta performed by Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Misha Omar respectively won Best Song at the 1996 and 2003 TV3’s Anugerah Juara Lagu. His strength lies in sentimental ballads where he has written numerous chart busters and performed by the likes of Dayang Nurfaizah, Fauziah Latiff, Ziana Zain and Liza Hanim.
