GEORGE TOWN, Feb 27 – About 12,000 consumers in eight areas will face water interruption on March 4 (Saturday) to facilitate road upgrading works by the Public Works Department (JKR). Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) CEO Datuk Jasei Maidinsa said water supply will be interrupted from 9am to 9pm.

He said the connection works required a temporary shutdown as an existing 600mm MS (mild steel) pipeline that delivers water supply to the affected areas. The areas to be affected after temporary pipeline shutdown are South Bay, Kampung Batu Maung, Lengkok Batu Maung, Taman Sunway Mutiara, Taman Bidara, Medan Batu Maung, Taman Sunway Tunas Jaya, and Taman Gembira.

PBAPP has planned for all the connection works to be carried out within daylight hours. All 7 connections at 7 separate locations will be carried out simultaneously. This is to ensure precise and timely completion, as well as resumption of normal water supply as scheduled within 12 hours. Consumers are urged to store sufficient water for use during this scheduled water supply interruption.
