KUCHING, May 7 – Sarawak Barisan Nasional Youth and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth today welcomed the cabinet reshuffle announced by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Openg yesterday. Sarawak BN Youth chairman cum PBB Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the new state Cabinet line-up announced yesterday and sworn in today was a strong team of experienced leaders representing the various races in Sarawak.

In a statement issued here today, Fadillah who is also Works Minister said the appointment of Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan as the third Deputy Chief Minister and changes to several ministries would empower the Sarawak state government administration under the current chief minister.

He said the move to place the Education Ministry under the state government through the establishment of the Education, Science and Technology Research Ministry was seen as driving education in Sarawak which has its own privileges on geographical and ethnic diversity aspects.

“At the same time, the creation of the International Trade and E-Commerce Ministry is in line with the vision of Abang Johari for Sarawak towards a digital economy. PBB Youth wish to thank Abang Johari for appointing former PBB deputy Youth chief Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah as Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister as well as Parti Rakyat Sarawak Youth chief Snowdan Lawan as Assistant Youth and Sports Minister,” he said.

He said this proved the confidence and trust of the state leadership on the capability of junior leaders as the next echelon of state leadership. He said in fact, two Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Awang Tengah were heads of the youth leadership in Sarawak.

He also added that this proves PBB has meticulous plans to train and recognise youth leaders and therefore PBB Youth would like to thank all appointed to the new Cabinet. Fadillah added the Youth wings were confident that those appointed would give their best service to bring overall economic growth in Sarawak as pledged in Sarawak BN’s manifesto during the 11th state election last year and this would expedite development in Sarawak. — Bernama
