HULU SELANGOR, December 16 – Several bodies of victims were found hugging each other in a landslide at three campsites on Jalan Genting Highlands-Batang Kali here on Friday. A fire officer who participated in the operation and rescue (SAR) refused to reveal his name saying, the operation he participated in at 6 am found several bodies that had been buried.

I myself who carried out the assignment and monitoring here felt pain when I saw the bodies of families hugging each other. The most heartbreaking thing is to see a mother hugging her two children who are buried in the ground he said when met by Sinar Harian on Friday. According to him, such disasters become normal when family members hug each other.

This is one of the worst disasters that have happened in this country as long as I have been involved in SAR operations,” he said. Meanwhile, the director of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Selangor, Datuk Norazam Khamis, said the firemen were facing difficulties in bringing out the 19 victims who died in the incident.
