SEREMBAN, February 5 – UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was seen avoiding answering questions about the political turmoil currently plaguing the party. “Politics does not have any statements,” he told the media at a press conference after attending the Negeri Sembilan 2023 Budget Dialogue Session at a hotel, here on Wednesday. He seemed to understand the possibility of being asked questions about the issue before the media had time to ask.
Despite being asked to give some space to ask about politics, the Pontian Member of Parliament once again insisted that there were no political statements from him. Before that, Ahmad only explained the essence of the dialogue session held which was also attended by Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Previously, UMNO’s Supreme Working Council made a decision to fire its former youth leader, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and former Selangor UMNO Leader, Tan Sri Noh Omar for violating party discipline during the 15th General Election (GE15). In addition, UMNO also suspended the membership of several other leaders including Sembrong Member of Parliament who is also former Vice President, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and former Head of Information, Shahril Sufian Hamdan for six years.
