KUALA LUMPUR, February 8 – UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said, there was no violation of the constitution or the Rules of Meeting during the recent General Assembly 2022, which involved the approval of an additional motion of no competition for the party’s top two positions in the upcoming election. Everything went smoothly. About 90 percent of the delegates agreed with the proposal that there be no competition for president and deputy.

There have been many times in UMNO’s 77-year history that the position has not been contested,” he said in an update on his Facebook page on Friday. Two days ago, Ahmad said, UMNO gave an explanation to the Organization Registration Department (RoS) regarding the additional motion approved at the 2022 UMNO General Assembly for the posts of president and deputy president not to be contested in the upcoming party elections.

According to Ahmad, he has met RoS Director General Mohd Nawardi Saad and his deputy in Putrajaya regarding the issue. It follows the action of two UMNO members on January 20 to submit a complaint to the RoS for a review to be made against the additional motion which is alleged to be invalid.
