PUTRAJAYA, February 28 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) constantly monitors the need for the supply of chicken eggs in the market and continues to work with various approaches to ensure that the supply of chicken eggs in the country is stable as usual. Based on that, the Government through the Cabinet Meeting that took place on 17 February 2023 has reached a consensus to continue providing subsidies for chicken eggs until June 2023 involving a cost of RM1.28 billion.
This step is taken to ensure that the supply of chicken eggs in the country remains stable, while the study on the mechanism and policy of targeting subsidies can be finalized in the near future. KPKM would also like to inform that the initiative to bring in chicken eggs from outside sources is a temporary measure to ensure that the supply of chicken eggs in the country remains stable and uninterrupted.
The need to bring in chicken eggs from abroad will also be reviewed once the supply of chicken eggs stabilizes. KPKM will continue to commit to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the chicken and egg industry continues to be sustainable and at the same time can ensure that people’s lives are not burdened.
