PUTRAJAYA, April 18 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced free Rahmah Toll payments for four days starting Wednesday. Anwar said that the free Rahmah Toll was enjoyed on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday. According to him, the initiative involves 33 highways across the country for all classes of vehicles. This effort can reduce the cost of paying tolls for people who will return to their hometowns to celebrate the festival as well as make it easier to plan their journey back to the village,” he said during a press conference at Perdana Putra here on Tuesday.
He said, further details regarding the implementation of the free Rahmah Toll will be announced by the Public Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. In the meantime, Anwar said, the Unity Government also agreed to implement some special efforts to ease the burden and bring joy to the people, including the granting of a special rate for the summons of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). “Giving this special rate for a month starting April 21 for all PDRM traffic summons for offenses in 2022 and before,” he said.
He said, each suit can be settled at a rate of RM50. “This special rate does not apply to traffic summons issued in 2023. Despite this, PDRM is committed to continue ensuring road safety at an optimal level especially during the festive season,” he said. According to him, in order to ensure the smooth travel of road users in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, PDRM will implement Op Lancar on Tuesday and Wednesday by focusing on routes that are expected to experience congestion.
“Furthermore, Op Selamat 20 will be implemented from April 20 for a period of seven days with the theme ‘Safe Home, Safe Arrival to Destination’. For this purpose, PDRM will also work with other agencies including RELA and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) to ensure that hot routes such as entrances and exits at toll plazas, for example, do not experience traffic congestion,” he said.
