KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim criticized allegations that the organization of Madani Malaysia Open Houses in conjunction with Aidilfitri in six states was a waste or an act of ‘riding religion’. The Prime Minister said that the program was not carried out in a personal capacity, but was organized by the government as an effort to support and entertain the people. Governments everywhere will hold (open house events), it’s not a waste because we feed the people.
For me it’s not a waste. If it is done in a personal capacity, including the family, it is appropriate to use money from one’s own pocket, but this (recommendation) by the government is for the people and (expenses) are much cheaper (if) done in Alor Setar, Kedah than in Putrajaya,” he said. He said this to reporters after performing Friday prayers at Jaminul Ehsan Mosque, Kampung Kubu Gajah in Sungai Buloh here, which was also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
