PRAI, May 5 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the Penang Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), has urged members of his party and the Unity Government coalition not to create opportunities for political enemies to play with issues that could potentially impact the support for the party ahead of the State Election (PRN). Instead, he has called for a strong combination between PH and BN to ensure victory in Penang. Speaking at the Launch Ceremony of Sky Residence Prai by The Ascott at Citadines Prai, Kon Yeow emphasized the importance of unity and the need to focus on preparations for the upcoming PRN.
He has also addressed allegations that there is an attempt to replace Lim Guan Eng as Chief Minister of Penang after winning the PRN. Kon Yeow expressed his gratitude towards 10 members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) who came forward to issue statements denying their involvement in trying to prevent him from resuming the position of Chief Minister after the state election. He added that he is also thankful for the positive comments on social media regarding his service as chief minister.
The 10 Penang DAP State Assembly Members who denied being involved in the movement to prevent Kon Yeow from assuming his position again if PH wins the next PRN are those who do not hold positions in the Exco of the Penang State Government or the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister. They have insisted not to speak to the Malaysiakini portal regarding the report titled, ‘There is pressure in DAP to change Chow, Lim back to Chief Minister of Penang.’
It is essential for political parties to maintain unity and focus on winning the upcoming elections. Any issues that can be exploited by political opponents should be avoided, and members of the party should work together to ensure victory. With unity and determination, the party can overcome any obstacles that may arise and emerge victorious in the state election.
