PERMATANG PAUH, May 6 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has challenged the opposition to bring a motion of no confidence in the upcoming parliamentary session at the end of May. Speaking at the 2023 Prime Minister’s Civil Malaysia Open House at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang Branch Campus, Anwar insisted that he is not the Prime Minister who avoids confronting and arguing about who has legitimacy in Parliament. He further added that if the opposition has enough numbers to challenge his government.

Then they should bring the motion of no confidence in the upcoming Parliament session. He emphasized that he is not the type of leader who would run away from reality, and he will face the numbers if they have a majority. Rumours have been circulating on social media that the Unity Government under Anwar’s leadership will lose its majority and be overthrown. However, Anwar clarified that these rumours are not beneficial without evidence revealed in the Parliament session. He urged the opposition to bring the motion with the evidence they have and not make it difficult for the people.

“We will hold a parliamentary session in two weeks’ time. But on condition, let this be the last so that we can concentrate on developing the country,” Anwar said. In addition, Anwar said that Malaysia is currently producing national income by attracting investment from China, India, the United States, and Australia. He added that the investment is rising because of investor confidence in the Investment Government and the stability of the country. “Don’t sabotage if we have space and don’t try to interfere without tolerance,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by most state and central government leaders and about 20,000 people. Anwar emphasized the importance of stability in the country, and if the opposition has a powerful number, he hopes all damaging and destabilizing statements are turned off.
