KOTA BHARU, August 11 – The Deputy Commissioner of Pas, Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, has acknowledged that the party’s position is challenged in the upcoming state elections (PRN). He stated that this is due to the existence of constituencies with a majority of less than 1,000 votes won by the party in the previous 14th General Election (PRU14).

He further explained that among the constituencies in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) that are affected are Apam Putra (348 votes), Wakaf Bharu (387), Dabong (589), Semerak (632), Melor (647), and Kemahang (923). “This competition is intense, and the chances of winning are 50-50. “Based on my experience, if the majority is 3,000, it is considered stable, but if it’s below that, we need to work even harder to compete,” he said during a press conference on Tuesday.

In another development, Mohd Amar mentioned that Pas sees significant opportunities to win in three DUN seats in Gua Musang, which were previously won by Barisan Nasional (BN). He stated that it is not impossible as they are taking into consideration all voters, including the Orang Asli (indigenous) and Chinese communities. He added that from their analysis, they expect Pas to win. “Based on past experiences, the Orang Asli usually do not support Pas, if there are any, it’s only around 100 to 200 votes. “But we see potential,” he said.
