ALOR SETAR, August 22 – There are rumors of dissatisfaction among members of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu) in Kedah regarding the appointments of the state government’s Exco members, which will take place on Monday at the Anak Bukit Palace. It is understood that the issue arose when only three Exco positions were allocated to the party, compared to five previously.
It is understood that Bukit Kayu Hitam Assemblyman, Halimaton Shaadiah Saad, is expected to be reappointed to an Exco position, along with two new faces from Bersatu. Internal sources within Bersatu expressed their discontent as only three party representatives are expected to be appointed to Exco positions after contributing 11 seats to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) victory in Kedah on August 12. Initially, media representatives were informed that Bersatu Kedah would hold a press conference regarding their dissatisfaction with the Exco appointments at their office.
However, the press conference was canceled at the last minute. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor had previously stated that the single representative from the Malaysian Gerakan Party, who won in the Kedah state election, could be appointed as a state government Exco member. He said that the representative, Wong Chia Zhen, who won in the Kulim state constituency, would be considered for a suitable portfolio.
