GEORGE TOWN, April 22 — Model Siew Pui Yi has taken legal action against her former business partner, identified as Lai Kai Jian, also known as Mentos, alleging fraudulent activities resulting in losses of nearly RM4.3 million. Siew, popularly known as Ms Puiyi, claims that Mentos, a 29-year-old director of her company, absconded after failing to settle tax arrears with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) and misappropriated funds from her company PY Empire Sdn Bhd since June 2022.
According to Siew, she entrusted Mentos with the task of settling tax arrears and managing human resources matters, believing him to be trustworthy. However, she alleges that he failed to fulfill his obligations, resulting in financial losses for her company. Despite lodging a police report last October and providing statements, there have been no updates on the case. Siew’s lawyer, K Mahendran, stated that a civil suit was filed at the High Court to reclaim the misappropriated funds, along with additional costs and damages.
