KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced the development of a new portal utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to aid individuals in verifying information, combatting defamatory news, and thwarting fraud and scams. The initiative, an expansion of the ‘Biar Betul!’ segment aired on Broadcasting Department (RTM) channels, aims to address the insufficiency of the brief segment in tackling these issues effectively. Fahmi emphasized the necessity for such a platform to alleviate public doubt regarding the authenticity of information they encounter.
He highlighted the importance of empowering individuals to access reliable sources and verify information received, especially in the face of rising instances of scams, fake content, and slanderous news. The AI portal, still in its early stages, seeks to complement existing platforms like SEBENARNYA.MY and MyCheck.My, streamlining the process of information verification and dissemination for the public. Additionally, Fahmi revealed plans to collaborate with social media platforms to implement verification processes akin to those practiced on certain platforms, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of shared content.
