PUTRAJAYA, April 27 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim underscored the imperative of appointing more women to key leadership positions within the civil service, specifically highlighting the need for increased representation among secretaries-general (KSU) of ministries and directors-general (DG) of departments. Anwar, also serving as finance minister, expressed concern that the current proportion of women in top leadership roles does not adequately reflect their 42 per cent participation rate in decision-making positions across the public service.

Addressing over 2,000 administrative and diplomatic officers at the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service Association (PPTD) Aidilfitri Town Hall Meeting, Anwar emphasized the urgency of addressing this gender disparity. The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and other senior officials, provided a platform to discuss strategies for enhancing governance and promoting inclusivity within the civil service. Anwar stressed the importance of humility among leaders and encouraged a culture of listening and collaboration to foster effective decision-making and governance at all levels.
