JOHOR BAHRU, May 1 – Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced plans for the corporatisation of Johor Tourism this year, aiming to bolster the agency’s capabilities and effectiveness in driving tourism initiatives within the state. Speaking at a press conference after officiating a Johor tourism empowerment workshop in Kota Tinggi, Onn Hafiz highlighted the importance of empowering Johor Tourism through corporatisation to attract employees with specialized expertise in tourism marketing and product development.

The move, scheduled to be completed within six months, is part of Johor’s efforts to elevate its tourism sector and align with strategies implemented by other states like Penang and Selangor. Onn Hafiz emphasized that corporatisation would provide Johor Tourism with greater autonomy and flexibility, enabling it to collaborate more effectively with various stakeholders, including private, foreign, and national entities.

This initiative comes as the state gears up for Visit Johor Year 2026, with the empowerment workshop serving as a platform for engaging with industry players and enhancing preparations for future tourism endeavors.
