HULU SELANGOR, May 7 — Perikatan Nasional’s candidate, Khairul Azhari Saut, unveiled his manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, highlighting his commitment to securing United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) heritage recognition for the Orang Asli villages in the area. Khairul Azhari emphasized the importance of providing better infrastructure to the disconnected Orang Asli villages and pledged to address this issue if elected.
He criticized previous proposals, seemingly targeting Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s suggestion to nominate Chinese New Villages in Selangor as Unesco World Heritage Sites. Acknowledging the delayed release of his manifesto, Khairul Azhari assured voters that it was a result of gathering input from local constituents during his visits. In addition to prioritizing eco-friendly tourism development and boosting economic activities, he pledged support for youth empowerment, women’s participation, and disabled-friendly infrastructure.
The Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, triggered by the passing of its three-term assemblyman, Lee Kee Hiong, is set for voting on May 8.
