GEORGE TOWN, June 11 — St. Christopher’s International School will celebrate the first International Day of Play on Tuesday, June 11th, a day designated by the UN to emphasize the importance of play in children’s lives and development. The school, a trailblazer in integrating play into education, will offer over two hours of diverse play activities, including a mud pit, stationary kayaks, and tinkering zones, to highlight the significance of play for overall well-being.

“At St. Christopher’s, we believe every child can reach their full potential with the time, space, and access to play,” said a spokesperson. The school has adopted the award-winning Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) initiative from the UK, under the guidance of OPAL founder Michael Follett, earning the prestigious Platinum Award. This initiative has helped redefine play within their curriculum, addressing the social and playful deficits observed during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
