GEORGE TOWN, June 12 – Perikatan Nasional Penang convened a committee meeting last Sunday, reaching a consensus to fully support the incumbent party in defending the Sungai Bakap state seat. The meeting also saw the appointment of a representative from PAS as the director for the Sungai Bakap by-election, with directives issued for all parliamentary liaison bodies to provide full cooperation. The coalition aims to secure a renewed mandate from Sungai Bakap voters to oversee the government and work towards improving basic infrastructure in the constituency.
The coalition hopes that voters in Sungai Bakap will strongly voice their opposition to the Pakatan Harapan state and federal governments, particularly regarding recent issues such as soaring water tariffs and diesel concerns. Perikatan Nasional Penang criticizes the Pakatan Harapan government’s neglect of financial burdens on the populace, citing unresponsiveness and arbitrary increases in fees and taxes, including a potential land tax hike in Penang. The candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election will be announced by the Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council.
