PUTRAJAYA, June 13 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad testified today at the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) concerning the sovereignty of Pulau Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks, and South Ledge. The former prime minister arrived at the Prime Minister’s Department’s Legal Affairs Division at 10.46am and departed nearly two hours later, noting the proceedings were closed and that he would hold a press conference at his Perdana Leadership Foundation office to discuss his views.

Dr Mahathir, who had been subpoenaed to testify, mentioned that he and his legal team had expected to be summoned due to their involvement in the issues under RCI review. Earlier, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Dr Mahathir’s judicial review application seeking open proceedings and various other legal reliefs, including preventing certain individuals from serving on the RCI and delaying the proceedings until his judicial review was fully resolved.
