KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 – The Malaysian government has approved RM4 billion to address water needs in Perak, the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP), and Penang. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made the announcement during a Dewan Rakyat sitting, highlighting the significant water requirements in northern Perak and KIGIP, which amount to 300 million litres per day.

Anwar acknowledged an offer from Kedah to assist with 25 million litres per day but noted it was insufficient to meet the extensive demand in the region. The approval follows concerns raised by Balik Pulau MP Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, emphasizing the necessity for substantial investment to ensure adequate water supply for the affected areas.
