KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — Malaysia is set to enhance its economic landscape with the establishment of 3,000 5G-powered smart factories by 2030, projected to contribute RM36.8 billion to the national GDP. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz highlighted this during the MoU exchange ceremony between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida).

The initiative, part of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), aims to generate over 150,000 high-skilled jobs in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and industrial IoT. The strategic cooperation between MCMC and Mida seeks to expedite industrial 5G adoption, boosting the manufacturing and services sectors and aligning with the Madani Economy aspirations to have the digital economy contribute 25.5% to the national GDP by 2025.
