KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — Malaysian movie producer and former Miss Malaysia, Rachel Tan, has released her latest film, “Sight,” to over 2,000 screens across the United States. The 100-minute movie, starring Oscar nominee Greg Kinnear and Terry Chen, has already grossed over $7 million USD in U.S. theaters. “Sight” tells the inspiring true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a renowned eye surgeon who overcame significant adversity to become a medical pioneer. The film, which premiered on Memorial Day weekend, has received critical acclaim for its compelling narrative and stunning visuals.
Tan, the first Malaysian to win the prestigious Miss Chinese International pageant, co-founded Kingstreet Pictures with her husband, Dan Mark, in 2016. “Sight” is their sixth film and showcases Tan’s commitment to bringing Asian stories to Hollywood. “This film is not just a testament to Dr. Ming Wang’s extraordinary life but also a celebration of perseverance, love, hope, and reconciliation,” Tan said. “As a Malaysian, I am proud to bring Asian stories and talents to Hollywood, bridging cultures and showcasing the diversity that enriches the film industry.”
Tan and Mark are currently working on their sixth film, a romantic comedy titled “Worth The Wait,” which stars Lana Condor and Andrew Koji, and was partially shot in Kuala Lumpur to highlight the beauty of Tan’s home country.
