KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 – The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and OraQuick have launched the “Double Down on AIDS Campaign,” running from July 17 to September 17, 2024. This initiative aims to bolster HIV self-testing among Malaysian youth by matching every donation made to MAC with an equivalent contribution from OraQuick. This campaign supports the Test Now national HIV self-testing program, which is crucial for early detection and management of HIV.
The campaign offers an added incentive: donations over RM 100 will receive a tax exemption receipt and a free OraQuick HIV Self-Testing Kit, valued at RM 99. By making self-testing more accessible and convenient, the campaign addresses barriers such as stigma and privacy concerns. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raja Iskandar Shah Raja Azwa, President of MAC, highlighted the importance of this initiative in overcoming reluctance among young people to get tested, due to social and logistical barriers.
