KUALA LUMPUR, August 7 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today called on civil servants to significantly improve their service standards as the government prepares to unveil the highest salary increase in Malaysia’s history. Speaking at the launch of the Malaysia Madani Civil Servants’ Housing programme, Anwar announced that details of the salary adjustment will be revealed partly this month and fully in October as part of the national budget, with implementation set for December 1.
Anwar highlighted that the increase, which has been long overdue, is intended to recognize the crucial role of civil servants and address the lack of a comprehensive salary review over the past 12 years. He emphasized that the new salary scheme aims to reflect the nation’s development and improve public service quality. Additionally, he noted the recent strengthening of the ringgit, attributing it to stable politics and dedicated civil service.
