PUTRAJAYA, August 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that Budget 2025 will be focused on reducing the cost of living and addressing the issues of cartels and monopolies. Speaking at the Ministry of Finance monthly assembly, Anwar stressed that despite the current low prices of essential goods like sugar, oil, and flour, many Malaysians still feel financial strain.

Anwar emphasized that the upcoming budget will include policies to tackle price manipulation caused by cartels and monopolies, alongside measures to curb corruption and smuggling. He urged the Ministry of Finance to collaborate with other government departments to develop effective strategies for controlling these issues and alleviating the public’s financial burden. Budget 2025 is scheduled to be presented to Parliament on October 18.
