PUCHONG, August 7 — At the launch of the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park in Puchong, Selangor, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli set ambitious new goals for Malaysia’s technology sector. The park, Southeast Asia’s largest integrated circuit (IC) design hub, is envisioned as a springboard for the country to achieve global prominence in technology, going beyond the “Made in Malaysia” label to establishing a reputation for cutting-edge innovation and design.

The 60,000-square-foot hub will house key industry players like Maistorage and Skyechip, with the project projected to generate RM500 million to RM1 billion in economic returns. Rafizi emphasized that while the park marks a significant start, Malaysia’s true potential lies in scaling up to compete with global technology giants. He highlighted the need for continued efforts to transform Malaysia into a leading force in the IC design industry, promising improved career prospects and competitive salaries for graduates in the field.
