KUALA LUMPUR, August 14 — Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Selangor FC in a thrilling Super League encounter at the KLFA Stadium. The match, known for its intense rivalry, saw numerous opportunities for both teams in the first half, but it was KL City’s 25-year-old Bosnian winger, Jovan Motika, who made the difference. Motika scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute, ending Selangor’s three-game winning streak.
Despite Selangor’s persistent efforts and dominating possession with 63% ball control, their attacking attempts were thwarted by KL City’s resolute defense. Selangor FC’s head coach, Nidzam Jamil, reflected on the defeat, emphasizing the need for improvement and lessons learned from the match. The team, now set to face Kuala Terengganu in the FA Cup Semi-Final, remains optimistic about bouncing back and refining their performance.
