IPOH, August 31 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced plans to propose collaboration among local authorities, agencies, and utility companies to implement underground utility mapping during a ministry meeting this week. Nga emphasized the importance of mapping to prevent incidents like sinkholes and ensure the seamless provision of essential services such as water, electricity, and internet.

The move follows recent calls from Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and is prompted by a sinkhole incident in Kuala Lumpur involving an Indian tourist. Nga has also instructed Ipoh’s mayor to reassess areas at risk of sinkholes.
