KUALA LUMPUR, August 29 – Passengers experiencing flight delays of five hours or more will soon be entitled to a full refund, as announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook. Under the new regulations, airlines will be required to refund affected passengers using the original payment method, though alternatives like credit shells or flight vouchers may also be offered.

These changes are part of the upcoming amendments to the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016 (MACPC), set to be gazetted next month. The new rules aim to strengthen consumer rights and ensure greater accountability from airlines, allowing passengers to cancel their journey and receive a full refund in the event of significant delays.
