GEORGE TOWN, September 5 – The Forward Operating Base (FOB) for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in Penang is now fully operational in Teluk Bahang. The temporary base, strategically located in the waters around Taman Negara, was officially launched yesterday, following an inspection by Penang Maritime Director, Maritime Captain Razali bin Kasim, and Deputy Director of Maritime Operations, Maritime Commander Nak Rong A/L Si Prom.

The FOB is designed to serve as a strategic staging point for swift enforcement actions against maritime crimes. The site visit, which included representatives from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), the Penang City Council (MBPP), and the Area Fishermen Association (PNK), emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation to bolster community trust and ensure maritime safety.
