KUALA LUMPUR, September 2 – In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, traditional measures of talent are no longer sufficient. Choh Yau Meng, Vice President of Human Resources at Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, emphasizes the need for a shift in focus towards interdisciplinary skills and lifelong learning to meet the demands of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry. Highlighting Huawei’s commitment to talent development, Choh detailed initiatives such as the company’s “iLearning” platform and its collaboration with 39 ICT Academies across Malaysia, which have already cultivated over 54,000 digital talents.

Choh also underscored Malaysia’s potential to become ASEAN’s digital capital, thanks to its diverse and skilled workforce. To achieve this, he stressed the importance of academia-industry partnerships and creating an enabling environment for talent growth. As digital transformation becomes a necessity, Choh calls for a collective effort to build robust talent ecosystems, ensuring that Malaysia not only keeps pace with technological advancements but leads the way in the region.
