KUALA LUMPUR, September 22 — Palo Alto Networks has released its “2024 Unit 42 Attack Surface Threat Report,” revealing a rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape across key industries like insurance, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. The report, based on extensive data from 2023, highlights the increasing complexity of attack surfaces driven by AI-generated threats. It underscores the growing challenges organisations face in securing their digital assets, with over 300 new services being introduced monthly, leading to significant vulnerabilities and exposure risks.

Key findings show that critical sectors are particularly vulnerable to attacks exploiting AI-driven weaknesses, with over 25% of exposures involving essential IT infrastructure. The report stresses the need for AI-driven tools and continuous asset monitoring to maintain visibility and reduce risks. Sarene Lee, Country Manager for Palo Alto Networks Malaysia, emphasized the importance of leveraging AI in cybersecurity efforts, especially as Malaysia advances its digital and cloud computing ambitions.
