PUTRAJAYA, September 26 — The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) has announced the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), effective today. CRESS, introduced on July 26, 2024, is an open grid initiative aimed at offering corporate consumers wider access to green electricity options to meet their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals via third-party access.
The Energy Commission has released detailed guidelines for the CRESS programme, which can be downloaded from their official website. PETRA is confident that CRESS will support Malaysia’s energy transition, helping to raise the share of renewable energy from 26% to 40% by 2035, and 70% by 2050, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and the carbon footprint of the electricity supply sector.
