PUTRAJAYA, September 22 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has reiterated the government’s willingness to continue negotiations with the Opposition regarding the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on allocations for opposition MPs. Fahmi clarified that the draft MoU is merely a platform for discussion and not a final document, urging the Opposition to return to the negotiating table.
“The door for negotiations is not closed; it is the Opposition that has closed it,” said Fahmi, adding that the government is ready for open dialogue. His remarks come after Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin rejected the draft MoU, citing constitutional concerns and restrictions on freedom. Fahmi also stressed the importance of the MoU in fostering constructive parliamentary participation while avoiding sensitive topics like race, religion, and royalty.
