GEORGE TOWN, September 25 – The Penang State Government has announced that renowned Lithuanian street artist Ernest Zacharevic will return to restore three of his iconic murals in George Town. These murals, including the famous “Children on a Bicycle” on Armenian Street, have become global landmarks since their creation in 2012, drawing tourists to experience Penang’s vibrant street art scene.
The restoration comes after concerns over the murals’ gradual deterioration. The state government, responding to public calls, engaged Zacharevic in discussions to restore the beloved artworks. The initiative reflects Penang’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage and further solidifies George Town’s standing as a global street art destination.
