KUALA LUMPUR, September 27 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia will prioritize foreign direct investments in sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and data technology, marking a shift towards more selective investment choices. Speaking at the Ilmuan Malaysia Madani Forum, Anwar emphasized that traditional data centers reliant on cheap energy and water are no longer sufficient, and AI integration is now crucial, citing Nvidia’s operations in Johor as an example.

He also highlighted the importance of universities in producing a skilled workforce to meet the demands of high-tech industries. Anwar underscored that education and health will remain the main priorities in the national budget, with education receiving the largest allocation, followed by healthcare.
