PUTRAJAYA, October 1 – Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating hardcore poverty in Malaysia, leveraging the country’s strong economic performance. Speaking at the National Symposium on Poverty Eradication, Rafizi highlighted that despite positive economic growth and controlled inflation, there remains a risk of widening inequality without focused efforts to uplift the most vulnerable.
Rafizi emphasized the importance of sustainable solutions, advocating for economic activities that provide low-income individuals with job opportunities rather than relying solely on cash aid. He acknowledged the limitations of past assistance programs, which often failed to lift recipients out of poverty due to a lack of training and business support, stressing the need for a collaborative approach under the Madani Economy framework.
