GEORGE TOWN, October 6 – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has addressed claims regarding his connection to newly-appointed Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO, Anuar Fariz Fadzil, stating they are not related. Fahmi emphasized that the only similarity is their fathers’ names, and he had no involvement in Anuar Fariz’s appointment, which falls under the purview of the Digital Ministry, led by Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
Fahmi’s clarification comes in response to allegations by former Umno supreme council member Isham Jalil, who insinuated a familial connection between the two. Speaking at a Penang MADANI Community event, Fahmi urged caution against spreading false information, noting that neither his siblings nor family have benefited from any agency under the Communications Ministry during his tenure.
