KUALA LUMPUR, October 17 – UEM Edgenta Berhad, in partnership with The Lost Food Project, has successfully led Malaysia’s first-ever pet food rescue initiative, the Pet Food Project (PFP). From January to July 2024, this initiative rescued 5,496 kilograms of surplus pet food, redistributing it to shelters and animal rescuers across the Klang Valley. By diverting over 12,724 kilograms of surplus pet food from landfills, the project not only supported animal welfare but also reduced food waste and environmental impact.
Through this groundbreaking effort, UEM Edgenta has helped deliver over 50,384 meals to cats and 8,833 meals to dogs, preventing 36,935 kilograms of CO2 emissions. The company’s commitment to sustainability is further reflected in its sponsorship of the “Potong Royong” programme, which neutered 680 animals in collaboration with SPCA, demonstrating a holistic approach to improving both animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
