KUALA LUMPUR, October 21 — Transport Minister and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke today dispelled rumours of a potential inheritance tax under the Anwar administration, clarifying that the matter has never been discussed in Cabinet. Speaking at the Federal Territories DAP convention, Loke criticised members of his own party, including several MPs, for accepting the unfounded reports.

Loke stressed that these rumours, which originated from a news report speculating about new taxes in the upcoming Budget 2025, are mere assumptions. He urged DAP members and the public to fact-check and avoid turning baseless claims into political issues, adding, “It’s not even an issue, so why are we making it a polemic?” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to table the budget on Friday.
