KUALA LUMPUR, October 23 — As of August 26, a total of 3,942 projects, or 45.9% of the 8,593 development initiatives under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), are currently in progress, according to the Auditor-General’s latest report. However, 169 of these ongoing projects are encountering delays or complications, highlighting a need for closer oversight. The report, presented in Parliament today, also noted that 1,434 projects are in the post-implementation stage, while 3,085 are still in the pre-implementation phase. Additionally, 132 projects have been categorized as either cancelled or under review.

To ensure successful completion of these projects by the end of 2025, the Auditor-General has recommended more rigorous and continuous monitoring, along with immediate intervention measures. The overall performance of 12MP projects will be assessed at the conclusion of the timeline, with the report emphasizing the need for enhanced project monitoring. The expenditure performance for these projects from 2021 to 2023 has reached RM231.920 billion, surpassing the approved allocation of RM222.756 billion for the same period.
