KUALA LUMPUR, October 25 – Malaysia has officially been recognized as one of 13 nations added to the BRICS bloc as a partner country, marking a significant step towards full membership. BRICS, an alliance of emerging economies, accounts for one-fifth of global trade and nearly 40% of the world’s population. Alongside Malaysia, nations like Indonesia, Turkey, and Vietnam were also granted partner status.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had confirmed Malaysia’s application to join BRICS in July. With the bloc expanding its global influence, Minister of Economy Rafizi Ramli will represent Malaysia at the BRICS Outreach Summit in Russia, highlighting the nation’s growing role in international economic cooperation.
