KUALA LUMPUR, January 26 – Malaysia’s data centre industry is expanding rapidly, positioning the country as a vital player in the global digital infrastructure landscape. With significant investments from tech giants like NVIDIA, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft, Malaysia is emerging as a regional leader in AI and cloud computing. Initiatives like the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) and the National Digital Network (Jendela) further strengthen the nation’s digital ecosystem.

However, the sector’s growth highlights an urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures. Malaysia’s recent cybersecurity bill aims to enhance digital defences, ensuring the safe operation of its data centres. “Legislation alone isn’t enough. Organisations must adopt AI-driven security measures to address sophisticated cyber threats,” said Sarene Lee, Country Manager of Palo Alto Networks Malaysia.

As the digital economy thrives, safeguarding this infrastructure is critical to cementing Malaysia’s reputation as a secure, trusted global hub for data centre investments.
